Why monthly

Why a monthly package, and not a one-off fix.

A website is not finished when it launches. It is a piece of software that has to be kept up with the world around it. Four things go wrong when nobody does that.

Updates pile up

Plugins, themes and the platform release fixes all the time. A few weeks behind is normal. A year behind is how most sites get hacked or break on the next update.

Backups quietly fail

A backup that has never been restored is a hope, not a backup. A monthly routine includes a restore test, so you know it works before you need it.

Nobody is watching

Forms stop sending, certificates expire and pages go down without a warning. Someone has to be looking, and the owner is busy running the business.

Small changes wait in a queue

A new opening time, a price, a banner. With no one on call these wait for a developer who has moved on. Monthly hours turn them into a request you can send today.

The three packages

Pick the one that matches your site.

Every package covers one website and includes updates, security, backups, monitoring and a monthly report. They differ in hands-on hours and how closely we work with you.

What your hours cover

Hours are for the changes you ask for.

Updates, security, backups, monitoring and your monthly report are included on top and never use your hours. Hours reset each month and do not carry forward.

Content

  • Text: add, change or remove it anywhere on the site
  • Images: add, resize and optimise them
  • Video: embed, update or remove it
  • Links and menu items: fix and update them

Structure and design

  • Files: upload or update PDFs and downloads
  • Pages and posts: create them from content you send
  • Layouts: apply design recommendations and small structural changes
  • Brand: tweak logos, headers, footers and colours

Who each package suits

Find a site like yours.

These are starting points, not rules. If your site sits between two, we will say which we would pick and why.

Your siteWe would usually suggestWhy
A brochure or portfolio site that changes a few times a monthEssentialUpdates, security and backups with 2 hours for small edits.
A local service business or professional practiceEssential or BusinessEssential if changes are rare. Business if enquiries come through the site and you want a named contact.
A clinic or wellness practice with online bookingBusinessA broken booking form costs patients, so testing changes on a staging copy first is worth it.
An online store on WooCommerce or ShopifyBusinessStore support, checkout testing and daily backups start on Business.
A store where the website is most of the revenuePrioritySame or next business day completion and an engineer check on every update.
A membership, booking or lead-generation siteBusinessThe forms and logins are the product, so they are tested each month.
A nonprofit or school with a modest siteEssentialSteady care and a monthly report, without paying for what you will not use.
A software or services company with a marketing siteBusiness or PriorityBusiness for steady care. Priority if every enquiry matters and delays are costly.

An honest comparison

A package, a freelancer, doing it yourself, or your host.

A monthly package is not always the right answer. This is how the options usually compare, and when each one is the better choice.

If your site is one page that never changes, or you enjoy looking after it yourself, you may not need a package. We would rather say so than sell you one.

How we run a month

Five steps, every month.

  1. 1Onboarding

You share access through the secure vault in your client area. Within 2 to 5 days you get an onboarding report covering eight checks and what we fixed first.

  2. 2The routine runs

Updates, security scans, backups and monitoring run on the schedule for your package. This never uses your hours.

  3. 3You send requests

Anything you want changed goes in as a request in your client area. A person answers by your next business morning, Eastern time.

  4. 4Time is tracked

Work is logged in 15-minute blocks. If a request would pass your hours, we quote it first.

  5. 5Your monthly report

A plain-English report shows what was updated, what was scanned, the restore test and the hours used.

The first weeks in detail are on the process page.

Questions about monthly packages

What are monthly website maintenance packages?

A monthly package is a fixed price each month for keeping a website secure, updated, backed up and monitored, with hands-on hours for the changes you ask for. You do not pay by the task, and you can cancel any month.

Why do I need a monthly package?

Sites do not stay still. Plugins, themes and the platform release updates all the time, and a site that falls behind gets slower, breaks or is hacked. A monthly routine keeps up with it, and checks that your backups really restore.

What is included in your monthly packages?

Every package includes updates, security scans and malware removal, backups tested monthly, uptime and form monitoring, a monthly report and unlimited requests through your client area. The packages differ in hands-on hours and in how closely we work with you, for example staging and a named contact from Business.

How much do monthly packages cost?

Essential is $99 a month with 2 hands-on hours, Business is $199 with 6 hours, and Priority is $399 with 12 hours. Annual prepay gives you two months free. There is no setup fee and no contract.

Are monthly packages worth it for a small business?

Usually, if the website brings you customers. Essential costs less than most people expect and covers the routine you would otherwise forget. If your site is one page that never changes, you may not need one, and we will tell you so.

Do monthly packages include content updates?

Yes, they come out of your monthly hours. That covers changing text, images and links, adding a post or a product you send us, and small layout changes. Updates, security, backups, monitoring and your report never use your hours.

Will monthly maintenance make my website faster?

It usually helps. Each month we check the speed of your key pages and fix what slows them, such as heavy images and unused plugins. We do not promise a particular score, because it depends on the site, the host and what is on the page.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my package?

Yes. Tell us and we will move you to the package that fits. If your hours are often short we will suggest a bigger one, and if you rarely use them we will say so.

What happens if my site gets hacked while I am on a package?

Malware removal is included, and so is the hardening that stops it coming back. If your site is hacked and you are not yet a client, Emergency Recovery is a one-time $399 service with no package needed.

How do I choose the right package?

Start with what the site does. A brochure site that changes now and then suits Essential. A store, a booking site or a practice usually suits Business. If downtime costs real money, look at Priority. The three-question picker above gives a first suggestion, and a free quote gives a firm one.
